Located at the very heart of Charleroi, opposite the station on the Boulevard de Tirou, Rive Gauche forms part of a larger project called ‘Phoenix’ which aims to fully redevelop the lower end of the town where a number of development sites are underway (some have been completed).
These redevelopments include offices, roadworks, new cultural spaces and redevelopment of the quays. Other developments underway include the 38,500 sq m Rive Gauche (93 stores over 3 floors) which will also offer a hotel, a youth hostel and apartments. The centre has currently been 65% pre-let, a clear indication of the centre’s future success.
“This project will, without doubt, be a positive influence for this area of Charleroi that was in need of change”, confirms Nicolas Beaussillon, Partner and Head of Shopping Centre Leasing at Cushman & Wakefield. “One of the Rive Gauche’s main strengths is that it’s easy to get to by car, train, bus and métro.”
Retailers who have already signed up for this complex, which is due to open by the end of 2016, include Di, Base, Pearle, Flormar, Alter Smoke, Frank Provost, Blue Libellule, Zigzag, Voo, Fox, Mano, Swarovski, Camaïeul L&L, Planet, Parfum, Grand Optical and many others. “Of those that are currently nearing the end of the legal process for leasing space, we can also add Primark, Inditex, Delhaize, JBC and JD Sports” adds Nicolas.
