The Canadian Embassy has signed a 15-year lease for the Art Lux office complex at 58 Avenue des Arts in Brussels. After many years at its current location, 2 Avenue de Tervuren in Brussels, the Canadian Embassy is now moving on to the European Quarter. In spite of the relocation, the embassy will remain with the same landlord as both 2 Avenue de Tervuren and 58 Avenue des Arts belong to AG Real Estate.
The embassy will occupy 3,500 sq m, or the entire 5th floor, for its administrative functions as well as a representational office on the ground floor. The building as a whole has +/- 17,000 sq m of office space over seven floors. The Arts & Lux building has recently been subject to a major redevelopment which only retained the outer shell. The new building has been awarded the BREEAM certification due to its low energy consumption.
After the embassy’s move, AG Real Estate plans to fully refurbish 2 Avenue de Tervuren. The Canadian Embassy’s real estate advisor was Cushman & Wakefield and the legal advisor was McGuireWoods.
