Assisting JD Sports in the acquisition of new stores

The Challenge

JD Sports aimed to enter the Belgian market and requested the help of Cushman & Wakefield to do so in the most efficient way. 

The Solution

C&W Belgium has assisted JD Sports by familiarising them first with the local markets and showing them several good opportunities in order to better understand what they were looking for in terms of surface and rent.

We have advised them on an expansion strategy to follow in order to choose the first right cities/streets.

After having listed the best opportunities, we assisted them in negotiating the conditions of their lease contracts with the respective landlords.

The Results

Thanks to our help, JD Sports quickly secured iconic shops in the most important cities of the country, such as Brussels and Liège.

Today they have also opened in Mons, in Ghent and in the brand new shopping centre of Charleroi, Rive Gauche. We have also helped them to find new stores (opening soon) in Turnhout and in a second location in Liège (Médiacité).

Thanks to this unique collaboration, JD Sports has appointed us since 2016 as exclusive agent for any further expansion in Belgium.
